AOC Alsace Lerchenbuehl – Complantation

The Lerchenbuehl, or lark hill, comes from a plot on alluvial soils in Scherwiller and belongs to the Auberge Ramstein. This old vine, over 70 years old, has been complanted with different grape varieties, mainly Pinot Blanc, Riesling, and Sylvaner. The rows are narrow, and all work is done by hand. This uniqueness makes it a unique wine with complex aromas and a powerful, mineral structure developed in 600L barrels. This dry white wine combines viticultural tradition and environmental respect thanks to sustainable farming practices certified High Environmental Value; furthermore, complantation, long forgotten, is a true hub of biodiversity and aromatic richness.

The soils are those traditionally found in Scherwiller, mostly gravel and silty-sandy soils, ideal for producing dry wines!

Tasting

This dry white stands out for its structure, diversity, and harmony. This complantation wine reveals floral and toasted aromas on the nose, enriched with subtle notes of dried fruits.

On the palate, it seduces with its power, brought by the barrel in which it is aged, harmoniously supported by a beautiful minerality. Its silky texture and beautiful length make it an elegant and persistent wine.

Food and Wine Pairings

This dry complantation wine pairs well with a wide range of refined dishes:

  • Meats in sauces: marinated pork spider steak, creamy poultry escalope.
  • World cuisine: lightly spiced Thai cuisine, refined Japanese dishes, Vietnamese cuisine.
  • Seafood: cod loin, plaice, prawns.

Tasting suggestions: gastronomic meals, special occasions, or even for a blind tasting to surprise both amateurs and professionals.

Serving Temperature and Storage

Served at an ideal temperature of 10 to 12°C, this wine fully reveals its balance and complexity. It is ideal to store it for 3 to 10 years, during which time it will develop its aromatic range and allow the barrel to reveal the wine’s full structure. Bottles should be stored horizontally for cork sealing and, if possible, in a cellar to maintain a stable temperature.

Commentary

This complantation is the spearhead of a new style of dry white wine, structured and generous. Aging in barrels gives it an elegant, well-built structure without being dominated by wood. The maturity and diversity of the grapes, combined with limited yields, guarantee a concentrated and balanced wine, ideal for enhancing gastronomic moments.

Our philosophy is based on the commitment to produce authentic wines, faithful reflections of the Alsatian terroir. We favor a nature-friendly approach, cultivating our vines according to sustainable practices, certified High Environmental Value. Each cuvée is born from a desire to enhance the fruit and the expression of the soil, without artifice. The choice of 600-liter barrels is part of this approach: they allow for subtle aging, bringing complexity and structure to the wine, without dominating its natural aromas. This pursuit of balance gives birth to sincere, balanced wines deeply rooted in their terroir to enhance them.

At the end of the meal, feel free to turn to a Riesling Vendanges Tardives.
