Rittersberg Pinot Noir – Red and Granitic
Rittersberg Pinot Noir is an emblematic red wine, made from Pinot Noir, the only red grape variety cultivated in Alsace. This wine stands out due to its aging in 400L or 600L barrels, thus giving it a more pronounced structure, body, and complexity than traditional Alsace Pinot Noirs.
The grapes come from the locality called Rittersberg, situated on a south-south-east facing hillside. The south-eastern exposure is therefore optimal for perfect grape ripening. The granitic soil with 2 Micas, both friable and rich, imparts a unique minerality to the wine, typical of this terroir.
Sustainable viticulture and environmentally friendly management allow this wine to be produced with a focus on sustainability and quality. This notably grants us the High Environmental Value (HVE) certification.
Tasting and Aromatic Profile of Rittersberg Pinot Noir
Rittersberg Pinot Noir is characterized by its brilliant ruby color, flecked with purplish reflections, which reveals its youth and vitality. Its bouquet is both powerful and expressive, with dominant aromas of black fruits. We find blackcurrant and blackberry, which bring a beautiful fruity richness.
On the palate, the attack is ample and full-bodied, offering a beautiful structure. The wine expresses a granitic minerality that pairs perfectly with silky, well-integrated tannins, adding an elegant texture to the whole. The finish is persistent and has a beautiful length, thus offering a harmony between the fruits and the minerality of the terroir.
Serve at a temperature of 12 to 14°C. It can be kept for 4 to 6 years, during which time it will continue to evolve and refine its aromas.
